Best Coffee Shops in Siargao Island — Cafés, Bakeries & Breakfast Spots

Siargao has quietly built a café culture that punches well above its size. Between the surf sessions, island hops and long afternoons by the pool, the island's coffee shops and bakeries have become essential stops for every kind of traveller — from early-rising surfers chasing the morning glass to families looking for a slow breakfast with good pastries. This guide covers the best coffee shops in Siargao, the finest bakery on the island, and where to go depending on what kind of morning you're after.

Coffee Culture on Siargao Island

Ten years ago, coffee on Siargao meant instant sachets and whatever the local sari-sari store had in stock. Today, the island has a genuine café scene — specialty roasters, cold brew on tap, third-wave espresso bars, and most importantly, a French bakery producing viennoiserie that would not look out of place in Paris.

The café scene is concentrated in two areas: Cloud 9 and General Luna. Cloud 9, where Kawayan Villa Siargao is located, has the advantage of being the island's most iconic spot — the boardwalk attracts a constant stream of surfers, photographers and visitors from first light, making it the natural home for the island's finest breakfast destination. General Luna, the main town, has a broader range of options spread across its streets and beachfront.

What makes Siargao's coffee culture special is its setting. Drinking a cortado here means looking out over a Pacific-facing reef break or sitting in a tropical garden while the island wakes up around you. The quality of the coffee is increasingly excellent — but the experience is entirely unique.

Kawayan Gourmand — The Best Bakery & Café at Cloud 9

"The croissants at Kawayan Gourmand are the best I've had outside of France — and I'm eating them poolside in Siargao. Nothing comes close on the island."

A Kawayan Gourmand breakfast: fresh croissants, pains au chocolat, fruit, coffee and juice — served at the villa pool each morning.

What to Order at Kawayan Gourmand

Best time to visit: Early morning, before 9AM, when everything is just out of the oven and the Cloud 9 boardwalk is still quiet. If you are staying at Kawayan Villa Siargao, simply request breakfast at your preferred time and the team will bring it directly to you.

Best Cafés in Siargao — Cloud 9 & General Luna

Beyond Kawayan Gourmand, these five are the cafés I recommend to guests at the villa. Each is different in character — from the plant-based smoothie bowls at the Cloud 9 boardwalk to a dedicated roastery near the Sunset Bridge. All have been verified for quality and are currently open.

Shaka Siargao — Cloud 9 Boardwalk

Cloud 9 Boardwalk · 6:30AM–5PM · Vegan

Shaka Siargao sits at the entrance to the Cloud 9 boardwalk with a direct view over the wave — making it one of the best-positioned cafés on the island. The menu is entirely plant-based: smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices, açaí, and freshly brewed iced coffee. The signature bowls (Bakunawa, Cloud 9 Kook, Green Out) are thick, fruit-forward and substantial enough to replace a full breakfast. The iced coffee is clean and well-made at ₱200. Arrive before 9AM for the front terrace seats with the best view of the break.

What to order: Smoothie bowls ₱250–₱480 · Iced coffee ₱200 · Fresh juices. Best for: Post-surf breakfast with a front-row Cloud 9 view.

White Beard Coffee — General Luna's Favourite

Poblacion 1, General Luna · 7AM–9PM

White Beard Coffee in Poblacion 1 is consistently the most recommended coffee stop among travellers who take their espresso seriously. It is an open-air spot — no air-conditioning, no pretension — with baristas who clearly care about the cup they put in front of you. The signature Creamy Cloud 9 cold brew is worth ordering when available. Flat whites are clean and consistent. The breakfast menu covers French toast, Eggs Benedict and Tocilog, making it one of the more complete morning stops in town. Mornings fill fast; arrive before 8:30AM for a seat.

What to order: Creamy Cloud 9 cold brew · flat white · French toast · Eggs Benedict. Budget ₱400–₱600 per person. Best for: Strong coffee and a proper island breakfast.

Lunares Cafe — Italian Coffee & Pastries

Tourism Road, General Luna · 7:30AM–7:30PM

Lunares Cafe on Tourism Road is the closest thing General Luna has to a neighbourhood café in the European sense — Italian-style coffee, house croissants, focaccia sandwiches and a small but considered menu running from breakfast to early dinner. It is a good people-watching spot on the main road with enough space to linger comfortably. The Mediterranean salad and tuna focaccia are solid lunch options if you are passing through at midday. Prices are reasonable and the pace is unhurried.

What to order: Espresso · flat white · croissants · focaccia sandwiches · Mediterranean salad. Prices ₱250–₱400. Best for: A proper café stop in the middle of town, any time of day.

Spotted Pig Cafe — All-Day Breakfast

Las Palmas Villas, General Luna · 7AM–6PM

Spotted Pig Cafe, set within the Las Palmas Villas complex, has built a strong reputation for specialty coffee and an all-day brunch menu that outperforms most of the competition in General Luna. Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, a well-constructed Reuben sandwich, and locally sourced coffee alongside house-made pastries and sweets. The setting is calm and leafy. It is on the pricier side by local standards, but the kitchen runs with obvious care and the quality shows.

What to order: Eggs Benedict · avocado toast · Reuben sandwich · specialty coffee. Best for: A full brunch when quality matters more than price.

Sunset Coffee Roasters — The Specialist

Harana Surf Resort, Sunset Bridge · 7AM–7PM

Sunset Coffee Roasters is the most serious dedicated coffee address in Siargao outside of Kawayan Gourmand. Housed within Harana Surf Resort near the Sunset Bridge, it roasts its own beans on-site and the quality of extraction reflects that commitment. The Dirty Earl and the Sunset Espresso are the signature drinks; the pour-overs rotate by bean origin. Almond croissants are the pastry of choice. The setting is shaded and calm, facing the water — one of the better mid-morning stops on the island for anyone who wants to taste what local roasting can do.

What to order: Pour-over · Dirty Earl · Sunset Espresso · almond croissant. Best for: Specialty coffee with full focus on the bean.
